Christmas Island

Lodging

IKARI HOUSE
Our First Choice

Ikari House (Bonefish House in the Kiribati language) is the newest and most comfortable Christmas Island Lodge. Its located in the small village of London (Ronton) with easy access to the lagoon flats and offshore. Our favorite Christmas Island Lodge overlooks the main channel and lagoon pass where shallow flats give way to the bluewater. Ikari House is a short drive from Cassidy Airport and features fabulous sunrise/sunset views and its own private beach. Accommodations are simple and comfortable consisting of double occupancy rooms with ensuite baths and air conditioning. Each room accommodates two anglers and gear with lots extra room outside your front door to rinse and store rods and boots. The Lodge is clean and tidy and the Staff does a wonderful job keeping everything organized.

RELAXED AND COMFORTABLE
BEST LODGING ON THE ISLAND

After a great day of fishing drinks are enjoyed under the Maneaba (open air thatched building) overlooking the beach, lagoon, and sunset. Sharing a cold beverage and platter of fresh-caught Sashimi after a great day on the water is about as good as it gets. This go-to Christmas Island Lodge stocks a variety of beer, soda, and bottled water with an “honor system” board to keep score on your drinks for the week.  Dinner is served buffet style with nightly selections including fresh fish and lobster, chicken, pork, beef, rice, and pasta. Breakfast selections include eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, cereals, and of course hot coffee and tea. Each angler packs his/her own lunch from selections provided each morning including a variety of sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips, snacks and sweets. Bottled waters are packed in your iced cooler each day, you are free to add additional drinks or a cold beer or two on your room tab.

SAFE AND RELIABLE
DESIGNED AND BUILT WITH PURPOSE

Working with destination Lodges in remote parts of the world for over 30 years gives us a good perspective on guest safety, equipment, and every day comfort. The staff at Ikari House takes a lot of care and pride in all their facilities and equipment. In particular their Canoes, Pangas and boat motors are the newest and most well maintained on the island. The Boatmen and Guides alike are skilled navigators who will get you home safely each day in a variety of ocean conditions. This level of care is essential when you are traveling half way around the world to fish in a remote location.

A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCE
BEST EYES IN THE BUSINESS

When we first visited Christmas Island’s iconic Captain Cook Hotel in the early 1980’s a core group of young guides had just begun to put Christmas Island on the world flyfishing map. One of the reasons we love the Lodge so much is that a number of these original Christmas Island guides are still working at the Ikari House. A week on the water with one of these seasoned veterans brings hundreds of years of experience and knowledge to benefit your efforts. We can tell you with certainty that the Ikari House guides are as kind and gentle as saltwater fly guides come and have the best eyes in the business.

SUNSET HORIZON LODGE from $2,950*
SANDY BEACH AT YOUR DOORSTEP

Sunset Horizon Lodge overlooks the vast Pacific on a beautiful white sand beach on the exterior edge of the Island. Our regular guests best describe the Lodge as “Fish Camp” with a focus on serious saltwater fly angling. Rooms are simple but comfortable and the communal Maneaba is a great place to share stories and a cool drink after an excellent day on the water. The Lodge offers a solid fishing program and excellent guides via boat and truck accessing many of the more remote areas of the lagoon. Inclusive weekly rates are $2,950 for shared room and guide with single room and guide upgrades.

CHRISTMAS ISLAND LODGE from $3,950*
NEW UPGRADES AND MANAGEMENT

Christmas Island Lodge may be familiar to many of you as it was formerly the Captain Cook Hotel, the first lodging and fishing operation on Christmas Island. The rooms overlook the exterior white sand beach of the Island near the Cassidy International Airport. The new operators of the property have made significant improvements to both the rooms and boats. They are in the process of training a new group of guides that should be in good form within a few short months. A communal Maneaba is planned for dining and relaxing after fishing and should be completed shortly. Inclusive weekly rates are $3,950 for single room and shared guide.
